Thai Dota 2 star Nuengara “23savage” Teeramahanon issued an apology to the Filipino Dota 2 community following his controversial remarks targeting players from the Philippines.

23savage previously said in a livestream that he doesn’t want to play in a team full of Filipino players again.

He also said that if he would manage a team in the future, he would only allow one Filipino player because he believes that once the number grew, the Pinoy players in the team would recommend bringing another and so on.

“If I were to manage a team and choose my own players, I will allow only one Pinoy player in my team at most. I won’t let my team have two or more Pinoy players. The moment there are two of them in a team, it will eventually become three and so on,” said the 21-year-old Talon Esports carry.

“Like a cancer, they will gradually spread. And it’s also better not to let them have any voice in recruiting new players, as they will only suggest other Pinoys,” he added.

It can be remembered that 23savage got kicked out of T1 following the arrival of Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte, who is also good friends with then T1 skipper Carlo “Kuku” Palad. Also in that team is Filipino mid laner Karl “Karl” Baldovino.

Gabbi and Karl eventually got booted out to make space for The International champions Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen and Anathan “ana” Pham before the team disbanded.

23savage said that he realized that some words were insensitive and that he regrets everything he said during the stream. He also vowed to learn from this mishap and work on becoming a better teammate in the future.

“I would like to apologize for my offensive and hurtful comments about the Filipino Pro Dota Scene. I realize that some words were insensitive and not appropriate and I regret saying those words,” said 23savage.

I would like to clearly state that my words were not targeted towards the Filipino Dota community and Filipino people in general,” he added.

He also clarified that he has a great relationship with Talon Esports’ Filipino staff and he doesn’t want to incite hate towards the Filipino Dota 2 community.

“I have a great relationship with our Filipino staff and I truly do not mean any hate towards the Filipino community and sincerely apologize to anyone that was affected by my insensitive comments,” he said.

“Moving forward, I am committed to learning from this experience and working towards becoming a better teammate and a more inclusive member of the Dota 2 community. I hope to regain your trust and support as I work to grow both personally and professionally.”
